This page of your site is
for any community Associations that
may be in your neighbourhood , such as Guides, Brownies, cubs etc.
Some Communities have formed
Rate Payers Associations
, for the purpose of uniting
the home owners of a neighbourhood, so that
they are
recognized by the Town officials as spokepersons for
that
community. These Associations help keep homeowners up to
date on issues affecting their Community as well as giving
them a recognized , universal voice with the Municipal
government.
If you as a Community would like to form such an Association,
here is a place to search , ask or volunteer.
Simply post a message to other like minded residents

Odeon Opening in Aurora Centre |
Hello everyone.
I wanted to pass on some news regarding the new 10-screen
Movie Theatre opening in Aurora by the end of the calendar
year.
Many people speculated that it would be built as part of the
401/Wellington business and commercial project that is
currently being developed.
Instead Cineplex Odeon is opening the theatre in the Aurora
Centre where we currently have Sobey's and Zellers. Now we
know what that empty space will be used for.
Sorry that I have sent any emails over the past few months. My
keyboard has been frozen. The next email I do send out will be
pertaining the Lebovic Development proposed for Industrial
Parkway. We will be meeting with the OMB/Region/Town/Lawyers/Lebovic
on March 1st.

| Rezoning
of land on the north end of Industrial Parkway
|
Lebovic Enterprises (aka
Lebovic Homes) has proposed a rezoning of land on the north
end of Industrial Parkway (immediately north of the AIIM
Group). This land is behind the homes facing the nature green
space to our west. The proposed rezoning would see 190+
townhomes and a 7-storey apartment building built taking away
much of the natural land in the area. This proposal has
concerned a number of residents in the community do to the
impact it would have to the development as a whole. Here are a
few examples of our concerns. Firstly, children of this
proposed development will have to be bused into our school
located at the end of Gateway Dr. A school the size of
Northern Lights will not be able to hold the additional
student count and the potential need for portables will arise.
Secondly, property values of certain homes in the development
are sure to be impacted by this development. Many residents
paid premiums to enjoy the view from their backyard. Such a
development would surely cause a loss in re-sale value.
Lastly, Industrial Parkway is called Industrial Parkway for a
reason. The thought of children living in such close proximity
to the current industrial buildings does raise concerns. The
Town of Aurora has rejected the request for rezoning but the
OMB has allowed Lebovic to fight their decision. This has led
to a large legal battle.
Many of the businesses along Industrial Parkway, The Town of
Aurora, and Lebovic Enterprise have legal staff working on
their behalf regarding this issue. The Bayview Greens
Ratepayers Association holds "Party" status in the hearings
that have been occuring, and will continue to occur in the
months ahead. We ask that residents concerned get involved,
and/or sign a petition opposing the development. Those
interested in volunteering ideas and time should email me so I
can get a meeting facilitated at the Town Hall. Those who just
wish to sign the petition should also email me so a member of
the association can drop by to get a signature. I will keep
everyone updated as more developments become available to us. |
